A truly international experience

The European Master of Science in Occupational Therapy is a unique, truly international programme. You study with colleagues from all around the world at five European universities.

This programme has been on offer since 1999 and was one of the first MSc degrees in OT in Europe. It is a programme of highest quality, accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders NVAO in 2006, 2010 and 2016. It received the European Consortium for Accreditation’s Certificate for Quality in Internationalisation in 2016.

The programme is offered by the School of Health Professions of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with four European institutions:

University of Brighton, Eastborn (UK)

Zürich University of Applied Sciences, Winterthur (Switzerland)

University College Zealand, Næstved (Denmark)

Karolinksa Institute, Stockholm (Sweden)

Please note: The European MSc in Occupational Therapy is primarily aimed at qualified Occupational Therapists who wish to continue their academic and professional development.

If you are not an Occupational Therapists you may be able to gain admission after submitting a portfolio, but please be aware that this programme does not lead to a professional qualification and licence to practice as an Occupational Therapist.

What you can achieve

The OT Euro-Master builds and draws on your educational background and your work experience. It furthers your scientific competences and enables you to deepen your understanding of occupational therapy and occupational science. As a graduate you will be able to evaluate, justify and innovate the concepts and approaches used in your practice. You will have the international inspiration and evidence-based approach that will help you solve problems in the health care system and undertake quality improvement and research projects to enhance practice.

This programme is research oriented and generalist. It does not lead to a specialisation – but it’s learnings can be applied in all speciality fields of Occupational Therapy.

The programme provides a scientific university degree on Master of Science level with 90 ECTS credits that allows you to pursue further academic studies on PhD-level.
